Refund Policy

1. Overview

At Rekall, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. This Refund Policy outlines the circumstances under which refunds will be provided for subscriptions to our AI coding assistant service.

All purchases are processed through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all refund requests in accordance with this policy and applicable consumer protection laws.

2. Free Trial

We offer a free trial period so you can evaluate Rekall before committing to a paid subscription. We encourage you to take advantage of this trial to ensure the service meets your needs.

Recommendation: Use the free trial to thoroughly test all features before purchasing. This helps you make an informed decision and reduces the need for refunds.

3. Refund Eligibility

3.1 14-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee from the date of your initial purchase. If you're not satisfied with Rekall, you can request a full refund within this period, no questions asked.

Conditions:

  • Applies to first-time subscriptions only (not renewals)
  • Applies to both monthly and yearly plans
  • Must be requested within 14 calendar days of purchase
  • Your license key will be deactivated upon refund

3.2 After 14 Days

Refund requests made after the 14-day period will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We may consider partial refunds in the following circumstances:

  • Significant technical issues that we cannot resolve
  • Service outages lasting more than 48 consecutive hours
  • Material changes to the service that significantly reduce functionality

3.3 Renewal Payments

Refunds for renewal payments are available if:

  • You request the refund within 48 hours of the renewal charge
  • You had automatic renewals enabled and did not intend to renew

4. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds will generally not be provided in the following cases:

  • Change of mind after the 14-day guarantee period
  • Finding an alternative product you prefer
  • Lack of required hardware (e.g., insufficient RAM for local models)
  • Incompatibility with unsupported operating systems
  • Violations of our Terms of Service resulting in account termination
  • Requests made more than 30 days after purchase (except where required by law)

Note: Please ensure your system meets the minimum requirements before purchasing. Rekall requires a reasonably capable computer to run local AI models effectively.

5. How to Request a Refund

5.1 Contact Paddle Support

Since Paddle is our Merchant of Record, refund requests are processed through their system:

  1. Check your email for the purchase receipt from Paddle
  2. Use the "Contact Support" link in the email, OR
  3. Visit paddle.net and enter your email/order ID
  4. Submit a refund request with your reason

5.2 Contact Us Directly

You can also contact us, and we'll help facilitate your refund request:

  • Include your order ID and email address used for purchase

6. Refund Processing

6.1 Timeline

Approved refunds are typically processed within:

  • Review: 1-2 business days
  • Processing: 5-10 business days (depends on your payment method)

6.2 Method of Refund

Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the purchase. If the original payment method is no longer available, Paddle will work with you to find an alternative refund method.

6.3 Partial Refunds

In some cases, we may offer a partial refund based on:

  • Duration of subscription used
  • Pro-rated remaining subscription time
  • Specific circumstances of the request

7. Cancellation vs. Refund

Cancellation prevents future charges but does not refund the current period. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

Refund returns your money and immediately deactivates your license.

How to Cancel (Without Refund)

To cancel your subscription to prevent future renewals:

  • Visit paddle.net
  • Enter your email to access your subscriptions
  • Click "Cancel" on your Rekall subscription

8. Chargebacks

If you believe there has been an unauthorized charge, please contact us first. We can usually resolve issues faster than going through your bank.

Filing a chargeback without contacting us first may result in:

  • Immediate and permanent suspension of your license
  • Being blocked from future purchases

9. Consumer Rights

This policy does not affect your statutory consumer rights, which vary by location:

9.1 EU/UK Consumers

You have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days for digital content, unless you have explicitly agreed to waive this right by downloading/using the software before the withdrawal period ends.

9.2 South African Consumers

In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), you have the right to return goods within 7 days if you are not satisfied. For services, our 14-day refund policy exceeds the minimum requirements.

9.3 Other Regions

Your local consumer protection laws may provide additional rights. We comply with all applicable consumer protection regulations.

10. Policy Changes
